Duchess Of Winchester and Duke Of Griffin Gate To Wed At Versailles Castle

By: Harold Leeder

May 18, 2018

Lexington will be hosting its own royal wedding this weekend as early tomorrow morning the Duchess of Winchester, Maggie Stroman, will be wed to the Duke of Griffin Gate, Chad Von Chadwick. The wedding will take place at the historic castle on Versailles Road at roughly 4:30 am on Saturday.

A number of Lexington celebrities are expected to attend the event. The wedding will be performed by the Lexington Castle spokesman Chris Cross. The maid of honor is expected to be Sleep Outfitters employee Abagail Troutman, known to her coworkers as ‘The Queen of Duvets.’ “The royal family loves Abagail’s comforters and duvets. She has made roughly a metric ton of down filled blankets for the family over the years, that’s why they call her Down Ton Abby.”

As is royal family tradition the couple are second cousins, and the Duke of Griffin Gate will be receiving a dowry from the Duchess of Winchester’s family of a one-year supply of Ale-8. However, there may be ulterior motives; with the consolidation between the Winchester and Griffin Gate families the couple’s offspring will be third in line for the Mayorship of Lexington.

Short Street To Get New Napoleon Complex

By: Harold Leeder

May 17, 2018

A group of developers has announced plans to open a new Napoleon Complex on Short Street. They haven’t exactly settled on which block of failing businesses they want to buy out and replace but they told reporters they’re looking for a particularly enlightened de spot.

Architect Rose Pierre unveiled blueprint plans for the project. “All entrances to the complex will be 5’6 or shorter,” she said. Bars will include Waterloo, Exile, and some other deep cut reference. It will also feature a French restaurant called Oui Oui’s.

There will be room for residences in addition to businesses. Studio apartments in the Saint Helena style will be rented out at extraordinarily ambition prices. Residents will be able to rent either one or two bedroom Bonapartments. A PETA representative initially planned to boycott their construction until Pierre assured them they weren’t entirely made of bone, just part of a bone.

Street improvements will be made, as well. Extra wide parking spaces will accommodate the oversize SUVs and give plenty of room to the European Lambos or Ferraris of their expected customer base. “They’re definitely not compensating for anything,” added Rose.

Marketers promise that the Napoleon Complex will be “dynamite”. Lee Cruse is reportedly in talks to perform the ribbon cutting.

KET To Air Last Mayoral Derby Pie Eating Contest Before Primary Election

By: Harold Leeder

May 16, 2018

The fastest four months in non-partisan politics will come to an end next week at the Lexington Derby . . . Pie Eating Contest For Potential Mayors.

This year will see a record number of contestants competing to see which resident can eat the most pies and subsequently become the mayor of our fair city. The last time the Derby Pie Eating Contest was this exciting future former Vice-Mayor Jim Gray allowed someone to put a big hole in the middle of his pie and he just left it there for like 8 years.

There have been a few issues leading up to the pie match.

This year the big debate between contestants has been that some want the competition table to be larger allowing the area to hold more pies, while the rest just want pie developers to put new pies in the empty pans that are already there. However, there are so many candidates we kind of lost track of who wants what, but let’s be honest, only 4 of these people even have a legitimate chance at winning this pie eating contest, so we’ll just focus on them.

One actual candidate and current Councilman Kevin Stinnett told us he’s looking forward to the contest. “Safe schools start with safe neighborhoods, and safe neighborhoods start in safe windowsills, where pies can cool without fear of being stolen. So what’s our next problem?”

Ronnie Baston seems like a very nice person and is always very professional. He will participate.

Linda Gorton skyped into our office to remind us that she’s the betting favorite for this year’s Derby Pie Eating Contest. She claims she will win pretty easily, and promises to wow the KET audience by simultaneously eating pie and performing a high flying Taekwondo exhibition.

Ike Lawrence is technically allowed to participate because everyone that fills out an application is allowed to. However, sources report he will attempt to compete without using his hands and end up with most of the pie on his face. While we assume his participation is some sort of an attempt to be funny, we ask the audience to treat his presence as you would a misbehaving child. Please refrain from laughing, as it will only encourage him further.

At press time, Teresa Isaac may not participate in this portion of the race, as she said in a statement, “My pie eating record should speak for itself.”

Dan Cummins Staff Call Mothers One More Time To Tell Them Exactly How They Feel

By: Harold Leeder

The staff at Dan Cummins Chevrolet was instructed to take some time today, the day after Mother’s Day, to call their mothers “one more time” in order to tell them “exactly how you feel”.

“Ted?” a surprised mother answered the phone. “Mother, I was just calling one more time to tell you exactly how I feel,” the teary-eyed salesman stammered into the phone. Another salesman was assembling a bouquet of roses he was sending. The card read, “Roses are red/they go on the terrace, you can get a good deal, by driving to Paris.”

“We are helping everyone send flowers to their mothers,” an office assistant said. “We encourage our employees to let their mothers know exactly how they feel, but if you want to put nothing down, we can work with you. That’s the benefit of coming to Paris. Want to put something down? Nothing down? No problem! We can work with you.”

Mothers of Dan Cummins employees are sure to be much happier today than mothers of Courtesy On Wheels employees who just received a card telling them they were “SWEEEET!”

Tattoo Parlor at The Summit Only Does Upper Middle Back Tattoos

By: Harold Leeder

May 11, 2018

Walking by a tattoo shop, you’d expect the music selection to be something in between Iron Maiden and Steve Earle’s “Copperhead Road”, not the piano concertos of Rachmaninoff. But that’s what you get at the Summit’s Completely Charmed Life Tattoo Parlor.

Tattoo artist Charles Lee III (The Third!) takes us through his design catalog: emblems from the International Association of Train Travelers, Sorority Letters, Cartoon Veal Shanks and Eggs Benedict. Plus outlines of Andover with its zip code, 40509, in the center.

“We can also do custom inks, as well.” The parlor’s wall is lined with photos from previous Summit patrons. The ink immortalizing the names of their favorite childhood chauffeur or the cousin they had their summer tryst with on a rowboat in Martha’s Vineyard. “I got the name of my boat across my upper back,” said yacht owner, Geoff W (no middle name, just the letter) Woolry.

While the shop does not have content restrictions, they do have a strict no lower back tattoo policy. “We call them, ‘Scamp Stamps’,” Lee (The Third!) explains. “We’d be done with middle back tattoos, too, if we could get away with it. Upper back is ideal though we do cater to the needs of the upper middle, as well.”

Completely Charmed Life Tattoo Parlor is part of the Summit’s planned Vice District. The area will also feature a pool hall called Strictly Billiards and the grand reopening of Camelot East Gentleman’s Club.

“Our shopping area was designed as a simulacrum of the typical American neighborhood,” says the Summit’s public relations director Theodore Tycoon. “So, by Jove, what’s more American than a little ballyhoo from the riff-raff?” Then Mr. Tycoon adjusted his ascot.

Friend Accidentally Invited Your Ex To Hang Out With Us Tonight At Thursday Night Live

By: Harold Leeder

May 10, 2018

What started out as a promising Facebook event everyone was attending, suddenly turned into a collection of maybes after one friend accidentally invited your ex.

“Look, the weather has been perfect, let’s get out and enjoy it,” began the event’s description. “This Thursday Kenny’s band is playing. We should all try and get out there after work around 6. We can meet at Belle’s and walk over?”

However, the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry, but one friend must not be a Steinbeck fan, as they Lennie’d up the whole night for everyone when they invited ‘you-know-who’.

“We all agreed that we’d still be nice to them socially, but that doesn’t mean we have to hang out with them all the time or invite them to everything,” said one friend privately. “I mean what happened to their so-called friends? Can’t they just do something with them?”

The friend in question blames the faux pas on habits, both drinking and the other use of that word. “It’s a real balancing act to be friends with both sides of a couple,” he said. “It’s like a seesaw but we’re all too old to be hanging out at playgrounds anymore.”

Old habits die hard, so we’ll probably just watch that tonight if you want to come over here instead. That or Sister Act 2?

Ale-8 Condemns Mitch McConnell’s Coke Endorsement

By: Harold Leeder

May 9, 2018

Coal baron Don Blankenship’s bid for a West Virginia Senate seat came to an end last night but the legacy he leaves behind, insinuating that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has ties to coke, lives on.

Ale-8 spokesperson Lee Cruse (not that one, a different one) came out and strongly condemned the Kentucky senator’s association with the Atlanta based beverage company. “Mitch McConnell has created thousands of jobs for Georgia-people and, in doing so, has gotten rich,” droned the spokesman lifelessly into the camera.

Shortly after the results of the West Virginia primary McConnell’s campaign released a picture of the politician surrounded by a white powdery substance. According to Cruse, this was clearly an allusion to the fact that Coke has more of that sweet, powdery sugar than Ale-8.

McConnell’s top consultant, James Splinter refuted these ideas. “Look, we were just having some fun,” Mr. Splinter said. “Obviously, this candidate has no connections to any soft drink but if he were going to endorse a soft drink it would be something Kentucky based.”

The politician/soft drink endorsement environment has been heating up in the past decade with Senator Rand Paul’s endorsement a few years ago for the disgusting La Croix alternative, Aqua Buddha.

Lexington Legends Consider Move To Bottom Right Corner Of The Map

By: Harold Leeder

May 7, 2018

The Lexington Legends have played at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, previously known as Applebee’s Dry Riblet Pit, since 2001, but that may change soon. Sources say the team is considering moving to a new stadium in the bottom right corner of the map.

Team bard J.R.R. Rawlings explained the complicated tale. “The Legends originally hailed from Ye Olde Kissimmee but they were exiled and had to take refuge in the Kingdom of North Broadway. Even now the Men of the Mitt hear the Hey, Batter, Batter of Destiny.”

He unrolled an ancient parchment on which was drawn a vaguely North American shaped continent with extra dragons on their margins and pointed a finger broken by too many bad catches to a blank square situated off the Atlantic coast. “The mythical Home of Plate.”

Legends coach Eddie Stark assured reporters that there is no truth to the story. “Some nerd made that up,” he said. However, cartographers have been spotted at the stadium measuring the minor league team players and drawing either dots or squares or triangles on their foreheads.

“That’s just normal, run-of-the-mill baseball game face makeup,” said Coach Stark, when confronted with word of the eyewitness reports. “Don’t read to much into that. Or try to pull that Bat from that Stone. Unless you’re the chosen one. Then we could use you on our team.”

Chevy Chase Area Derby Gamblers Ready For Bourbon n’ To Lose

By: Harold Leeder

May 3, 2018

The Kentucky Derby is this weekend and many in the Chevy Chase area have accepted their fates as bad horse gamblers by saying their weekend expectations include “Bourbon n’ to lose.”

A man wandering the streets eating red beans and rice gave us his own unsolicited derby preview. “You wanna win? Bet on Crystal” he said squeezing a red condiment bottle directly into his mouth. This was interesting advice considering the fact that there aren’t any derby day race entrants by that name.

Another Chevy Chase resident whom we deduced was a horse gambler based on his fedora, pointed at a man reading the Daily Racing Forum and told us, “that guy over there, he told me to bet all my money on that Gronkowski horse, but that thing isn’t even in the race. Turns out he’s just a jumbo liar.”

“I’m not some kind of rich guy that throws a lot of money around,” the man continued. “I’m just a po’ boy, I need no sympathy, cuz it’s easy come, easy go. So yeah I’ll probably lose some money, but I’ll have so much bourbon I won’t care.”

Man Dining At Applebee’s On Nicholasville Rd Puts Napkin In His Lap Like That Matters

By: Harold Leeder

May 2, 2018

Late Tuesday evening witnesses (employees and single dads) said they saw a man seated in the Nicholasville Road Applebee’s unfurl his silverware and then place the napkin in his lap.

“Who is he trying to impress?” asked one of many Todd’s in attendance. “Like, is he worried he’ll get this bourbon steak sauce on his good sweatpants? This isn’t TGI Fridays man, keep your napkin on the table, we’re not putting on airs here.”

“When I saw him walk in and put the napkin on his lap I immediately ran back to the kitchen and told them the CEO was here,” said waitress Tammy. “At the very least I figured he was a secret shopper or something.”

“I totally get what he was doing,” said another Todd. “I love those microwaved riblets they have but I don’t want my kids coming over on my weekend and seeing the shame stains all over me.”
