The 8 Things UK Must Do To Beat Florida

By: Harold Leeder

September 9, 2016

8) Hide a steel chair under the field and put a foreign object under Drew Barker’s wristband à la 80’s WWF.

7) Try and pull off an elaborate jersey swap with Florida at halftime.

6) Tell Boom Williams that Verne Lundquist keeps calling him Stanley.

5) Release a bunch of Zika mosquitos….oh wait, never mind.

4) Instead of the traditional Cover 2, trying covering all of Florida’s players.

3) Paint a fake locker room tunnel on the side of mountain in the style of Wile E. Coyote.

2) At halftime, go into the pause menu and turn down the difficulty settings.

1) Instead of fielding eleven players, just put Eleven on the field.

Jim Gray Unveils Plan To Bring His Favorite Broadband, The Bangles, To Eastern KY

By: Harold Leeder

September 8, 2016

Former vice mayor Jim Gray unveiled his plan to stimulate the economy and boost morale earlier this week, and that plan includes providing access to broadband — specifically his favorite broadband, The Bangles — to rural Eastern Kentucky.

The former vice mayor, who is currently challenging Rand Paul for his U.S. senate seat, believes he is the best candidate for creating a hip party atmosphere, and he believes that the best way to do that is by bringing as many all-female rock and roll bands to rural Eastern Kentucky as possible.

“I know about creating a hip party atmosphere,” said the former vice mayor. “I grew up in a family that partied, where over time we created literally thousands of hip party atmospheres.”

Gray says The Bangles are just the beginning. He also plans to bring other high-speed broadbands to the area, including Heart, The Go-Go’s, and Sleater-Kinney. Unfortunately, some areas of Eastern Kentucky are so remote that they won’t be able to access the high-speed broadbands, so they will instead be given a slower broadband connection, like Wilson Phillips.

The broadbands will be given unlimited access to to North Lime donuts and Crank And Boom ice cream in an attempt to increase their bandwidth.

The idea was suggested to the former vice mayor by Melissa Etheridge, who also gave him his favorite braided belt.

“I’ll vote for him on one condition,” said Ashland resident Dusty Stanley. “When he brings these broadbands to this part of the state, he needs to take the Judds back with him.

ITT Tech Locksmith Student Thinks Locked Doors Are Just A Mid-Term Exam

By: Harold Leeder

September 7, 2016

Many ITT Tech students and faculty were shocked when they arrived at the “college” Tuesday morning, only to find it had permanently closed its doors with little notice. Despite emails being sent out yesterday morning and the writing being on the wall for months prior, some were still in denial by the news such as locksmith student Todd Rhodes, who assured everyone this had to be his mid-term exam. The aspiring future Pop-A-Lock employee feverishly worked on the sealed doors for six straight hours before being corrected and dropped one full letter grade by his now former professor for not taking a break after two hours since he’d probably be union.

While Rhodes may have been in a denial about the closing, students from the welding department felt the most duped after spending their last class welding the doors shut. “We were told it was our ‘final exam’ which we now realize should’ve been a red flag since it’s only September,” said intro welder Todd Bailey, “but when we arrived Tuesday morning, we started putting two and two together and realized, we hadn’t learned how to put two and two together yet.”

Students from the accounting department cried foul on the reason given for the “college” closing. “I don’t understand how they couldn’t obtain the proper accreditation with me and all my friends paying for all our classes with a credit card,” said first year economics major Ellen Wolfe. “It just doesn’t add up on my TI-80 calculator how they’re not making a profit. But maybe I just haven’t learned enough about business yet.”

A range of emotions were felt on campus as news of the closing traveled. Some were furious, such as Todd Mulberry who was livid since he was only one week away from finishing up his two week certificate program. Others took it all in stride such as honor roll student Todd Wang who still waited the mandatory fifteen minutes for his teacher to show up before leaving.

Many faculty members were at a loss as well. “I’ve taught here for over 30 years so I will miss it but I also know with my experience, I should have no problem finding another college or university to teach my course at,” said VCR repair professor Maxwell Oldman.

Mark Stoops Reminds Players & Parents That What’s Most Important Is Having Fun Out There

By: Harold Leeder

September 2, 2016

Mark Stoops met with players and parents last night with another losing season just days away from kicking-off to remind everyone, “it’s all about having fun out there.” The embattled coach who’s yet to have a winning season or receive that sweet, sweet slap on the ass from AD Mitch Barnhardt letting him know he’s done good, called the meeting to ensure everyone was on the same page and fully prepared to brace themselves for the upcoming dumpster fire that will be the 2016 season. Sources say, not only was everyone not on the same page regarding the season, they weren’t even on the same page of the playbook.

“I just want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting these kids,” Stoops told the group of players and parents, “and remind everyone we gotta stick together through thick and thin. Win or lose. And trust me, there’s gonna be a lot of losing.”

Coach met with the press afterwards to address some early concerns and fumbling issues many have noted during practices.

“Yeah, we got some fumbling issues for sure that we need to address. We had a couple guys already drop the ball earlier this week when they didn’t eat lunch with that autistic kid sitting by himself at Winburn Middle School during their visit. I guess they tried but the kid waved them off saying he was waiting for basketball season to cash in on that photo op. I would’ve expected them to be more aggressive in that situation, regardless.”

Stoops started off the week in the headlines for non-football related news regarding his strict weapons policy. Some folks took exception to it including super fan, Timmy Gordon saying, “yeah, I guess he banned all his players from owning handguns. So much for having fun out there.” Gordon’s third wife Vicky added, “how can they be expected to protect themselves when they can’t even protect the freakin’ quarterback?”

Matt Bevin’s Top 8 Most Threatening Voicemails

By: Harold Leeder

September 1, 2016

Yesterday, Matt Bevin found himself in some real hot dog water when Democratic state Rep. Russ Meyer released the audio of a threatening message the governor left on his voicemail.  While there’s a lot we don’t understand about this story, such as, why is Matt Bevin still leaving voicemails for people at all, turns out this isn’t Bevin’s first time displaying this type of behavior.  The New Circle Circular has obtained several other threatening voicemails Bevin has left. Here’s an exclusive sneak peak of each one.

8. Jack Conway (KY Democratic nominee for governor), 2013

“Hey, seriously if you don’t call me back, I’m going to run for governor.”

7. Lexington Dental Center, early 2016

“Look, if you won’t change my son’s appointment, I’ll be sure NO Kentuckians have access to dental care ever again.”

6. Lee Cruse, last Saturday morning

“Hey, if you don’t go like my selfie on Instagram, I’m gonna make you stand in the beer line at MoonTower Music Festival all day.”

5. Bluegrass Stockyards, January 29th 2016

“……or I’ll burn your business down for the insurance money. Does that ring a bell?”

4. Steve Beshear, July 2016

“Hey, I can’t figure out which cord turns the fan on and which one turns the light on. Call me back ASAP because I’d hate to see your wife’s name be taken off that library, bro.”

3. Sannie Overly (chair of KY Democratic Party), March 2016

“Don’t make me arm wrestle you on this budget stuff! I’ve been doing curls and pull-ups…I’m so ripped some judge’ll be like ‘Bevs you gotta stop strong armin’ people!'”

2. Papa John, June 2016

“Look, if you don’t introduce me to Peyton Manning, I’m gonna make you a UofL board member.”

1. Greg Stumbo, last night

Greg Stumbo Gets Sidetracked By Killer Peach Cobbler Recipe While Googling “How To Impeach Someone”

By: Harold Leeder

August 31, 2016

House Speaker Greg Stumbo dazzled dinner guests last night with a fairly impressive dessert he prepared after going down a Google rabbit hole earlier that morning. After raising the possibility of impeaching Gov. Bevin over the weekend, Stumbo went right to work googling “how to impeach someone”, but got sidetracked after a delicious peach cobbler recipe popped up that he just had to try. Stumbo, a known master baker, revealed however, once Bevin caught wind of his plans to serve the cobbler, started leaving him threatening voicemails telling Stumbo to make apple cobbler if he wanted to do what was best for his seat, his district and his dinner party.

“I accidentally Stumbo’d upon the killer recipe after typing ‘peach’ instead of ‘impeach’ I guess,” explained Stumbo, D-Prestonburg. “Once I saw it, I knew my day was done. While I don’t know how this impeachment process really works, I do know how to make a mean cobbler, but the last thing I need is our governor bullying me into which cobbler I should or shouldn’t make for my own party.”

Stumbo went on to play pieces of the voicemail for local reporters where Bevin was clearly trying to get Stumbo to cross dinner party lines. The governor went into great detail about how well his apple cobbler’s go over at their dinner parties and left all the details of the recipe on the message, infuriating the House Speaker and members of the KY Democratic Party.

“Telling me how to do my job, threatening me and trying to strong-arm me into making an apple cobbler is clearly an impeachable offense,” ranted Stumbo. “As House Speaker and expert foodie, I bake what I feel is best for the citizens of this great commonwealth. And I’m not a guy who believes in half measures, ” added Stumbo, “which is why I followed that cobbler recipe exactly as it was written.”

When reached for comment, House Subwoofer Jim DeCesare said he felt all the claims were bassless.

Joe B. Hall Elected Mayor Of GattiTown

By: Harold Leeder

August 29, 2016

The mediocre pizza buffet populace has spoken, and they’ve decided that legendary UK basketball coach Joe B. Hall will be the next mayor of GattiTown.

While exit polls at the Nicholasville Road location of GattiTown mostly showed that diners regretted their decision to eat at GattiTown, they were also a strong indicator that Coach Hall would win the election easily over his opponent, Dan Glass of Courtesy On Wheels. Glass, who ran as a member of the Sweeet! Tea Party, built his platform around removing all Pepsi products and continually reminding everyone of his campaign’s slogan “Make Dessert Pizza Sweeet! Again.”

As mayor of GattiTown, Joe B. Hall will get to enjoy several perks and privileges. Free pizza for life seems like it would be the biggest bonus, but the best benefit of being mayor is the unlimited access to Air Hockey One, the plane that escorts the Commander In Cheese of GattiTown around the skies of Lexington.

Coach Hall plans to get to work as soon as possible. He hopes to fast-track development on Centre Ball Pit, which has become a bit of an eyesore in downtown GattiTown. Hall also wants to finalize a budget fairly quickly, but it all depends on how many coins are close to falling off the edge on that one game machine.

“I want to be a mayor who can reach across the aisle,” said Coach Hall, “and grab those unfinished breadsticks from that empty table.”

Most experts feel confident that the election results are accurate, but there is a vocal minority who think that voter fraud may have taken place.

“They weren’t even asking to see people’s GattiTown Game Card at the polls,” complained Reginald Rowland, president of the GattiTown NRA and extremely vocal Dan Glass supporter. “Also, I don’t think they even counted the votes, they just weighed them on that machine in the gift shop.”

Micah Harris Gets Chris Bailey’s Order Wrong At Starbucks

By: Harold Leeder

August 26, 2016

Yesterday’s weather forecast was another hot one, but the look Chris Bailey gave Micah Harris upon his return from Starbucks was ice cold, as Harris came back with an incorrect coffee order.

“I specifically told him only a little foam on my cappuccino,” said Bailey. “I like my coffee like my weather forecasts, only partly cloudy. But there he comes waltzing into the studio with the most foam-filled Venti cappuccino I’ve ever seen.”

Harris claims he got the order wrong after an influx of last minute orders from several WKYT staff members who knew he was about to go to Starbucks.

“Usually I have a system,” said Harris. “It’s a real low pressure system, I just pick up Chris Bailey’s cappuccino, my coffee, and Barbara Bailey’s upside-down caramel macchiato.  Yesterday was no different and I had run all the predicative models and things were looking good, but then right before I left I noticed a whole new high pressure system coming up from the south of the building. Kristin Kennedy, Monique Blair and Sean Moody were already wanting pumpkin spice lattes, and Puente even had the nerve to ask me if I would stop at Speedway and get him a Crystal Pepsi.”

Harris found out the hard way yesterday that while it’s okay to get the weather wrong, the weather isn’t Chris Bailey’s Starbucks order. He tried to make things right with Bailey by offering the Chief Meteorologist his own coffee, which Bailey took only to pour it out right in front of him.

“Looks like today’s forecast calls for a heavy downpour,” Bailey remarked sarcastically.

“This kind of stuff wouldn’t fly over at LEX 18,” said local storm team Yelp reviewer Anthony Cipriani. “I heard Meck has his coffee flown in daily from Colombia, and then has Chris Goodman grind it by hand before it goes into a French Press manned by an off the clock Steve Butera. Meanwhile, at ABC 36, Jason Myers just hopes Eric Burke remembered to pick up some Folgers K-Cups.”

“Kids these days,” said Rob Bromley. “I don’t know why they like to be fancy and go to Starbucks anyway. I’ve been bringing my own coffee from home for years and it’s the best in the business. Taster’s Choice, black, made every morning from a campfire percolator.”
