Body Cam Footage Shows Officer Don Just Does Traffic Report From Car

By: Harold Leeder

April 5, 2017

Officals from WKYT and WLAP are scrambling, this morning, to respond to a scandal some are referring to as “Tailgate”. Newly released body cam footage shows Officer Don Evans doing traffic reports not high above the city in his helicopter, but instead, from the driver’s seat of the car.

“We began to have our suspicions and that’s why we started digging around for the body cam footage,” says Bobby Nealy, the man who first posted the footage to facebook. “The first sign, I guess, was that I could hear his Waze app in the background saying ‘continue straight for one mile’ and ‘expected time in traffic seven minutes.’ You don’t usually run into seven minutes worth of traffic in a helicopter.”

Nealy became even more convinced that Officer Don was not in a helicopter when one morning, he became upset about a very particular back up. During traffic on the ones Officer Don’s report was as follows “You’ll want to avoid heading outbound on Harrodsburg Road as there seems to be some delays out there. And HOLY MOTHER OF GOD (wild honking sounds) GET OFF OF NICHOLASVILLE ROAD MURRAY, USE A FREAKING TURN SIGNAL FOR ONCE IN YOUR PATHETIC LIFE.”

The suspicion was then confirmed when Nealy was able to leak the body cam footage. It was clear from the video that Officer Don was giving a traffic report from the driver’s seat of a 2015 Toyota Camry. The tape showed Officer Don smacking his stomach very quickly with one hand to replicate the sound of a rudder and calling out “I’m high above the city here, looking at everything very clearly now. Looks like a backup on New Circle and I would imagine there is probably some traffic on Nicholasville.”

Officer Don broke his silence Tuesday issuing a statement to the media, “to be honest I only started driving around because they wouldn’t let me land my helicopter at middlefork anymore.”

Heavy Hitter Stars As Isaacs & Isaacs Open Softball Season With Win Over Morgan & Morgan

By: Harold Leeder

April 3, 2017

Last night was opening night for the Kentucky Lawyers Softball League, which means attorneys across the state went from chasing ambulances to chasing fly balls. The game everyone had their eye on though was the showdown between Morgan & Morgan Law offices and Isaacs & Isaacs. The showdown everyone looks forward to every year: John Morgan’s signature high arcing change-up vs the heavy hitter’s big bat.

The game began after local judge Sandra Knight O’Connor threw out the first pitch and the first lawsuit.

Isaacs struggled to open the game after he grounded into a Morgan to Morgan to Morgan double play. Eventually, Isaacs found his stride, hitting a home run but requesting a pinch runner to jog the bases for him.

The game took longer than expected because of multiple delays. The first delay occurred when Morgan & Morgan lead off hitter and former Reds Legend Joe Morgan appeared to tweak his hamstring rounding second and the dugouts emptied as attorneys scrambled to get their business card to the former Red; the chorus of players shouting “have you been hurt in an accident” was deafening. The second delay came after a foul ball hit someone’s windshield in the parking lot, and again the business cards came out. The game picked up a lot more momentum in the fifth inning when umpire and expert witness Dr. Ben Havinpain announced the teams would not be allowed any more commercial breaks between innings.

The game wrapped up around midnight, with Isaacs & Isaacs beating Morgan and Morgan 8-5. The heavy hitter’s two home runs and one double sealed the win. Next weekend the heavy hitter’s bat will face off against the vaunted three-headed pitching attack of Kaufman, Stigger & Hughes.

Man Already Stuck In Traffic From April Grand Opening Of The Summit At Fritz Farm

By: Harold Leeder

March 30, 2017

Tops In Lex’s soon-to-be favorite spot to take photos of white people, The Summit At Fritz Farm, will have its grand opening on April 27, and one local man is already stuck in traffic despite the grand opening being nearly a month away.

“I wanted to get there right when it opened, so I went ahead and left my house today,” Greg Fields told us. “The way traffic is currently moving, I should arrive at some point in late April, just in time to spend an hour or so looking for a decent parking spot.”

The placement of The Summit in a location already prone to heavy traffic has many Lexington commuters worried about traveling that area, especially with Keeneland opening back up soon. The opening of the Summit also has developers of CentrePointe worried, as they were unaware that a real estate project could actually be completed on time.

Many Lexington residents believe The Summit is essentially just a watered down version of Hamburg, except with way more traffic and way fewer Steak N’ Shakes. And those residents are absolutely correct.

“It’s got all the Bed And Bath of Hamburg, but none of the Beyond,” said Susan Greer.

If you’d like to take part in all the overpriced shopping and artisan Popsicle stores that The Summit has to offer, experts suggest you too should leave your house in the next few days in order to arrive in time for the grand opening.

Mingua Beef Jerky Now Accepted As Legal Tender In Paris, Kentucky

By: Harold Leeder

March 29, 2017

City officials in Paris, KY announced this week that strips of tasty, all-natural Mingua beef jerky can finally be used as currency at businesses within city limits. The move is one that residents of Paris have hoped would happen for months.

“I invested pretty heavily in Mingua beef jerky back during the recession, because I wanted something with a little more stability and flavor than the U.S. Dollar,” said Paris resident Pierre Dubois. “I’m glad city officials have finally come around on accepting it as legal tender, because it’s probably about as tender as it gets. And it makes my wallet smell great.”

While the transition to using the perfectly seasoned, hand-cut snack as currency is only now becoming official, many businesses around town have been accepting the jerky as payment for weeks.

“We accept any legitimate form of payment,” a Centerville Market clerk told us. “Whether that be cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or Mingua. You know, pretty much anything except American Express.”

Other stores told us they’ve seen an influx of counterfeit jerky.

“Yeah we get the scammers from time to time,” said Save-A-Lot cashier Claudette Fournier. “They’re easy to spot though. When you hold the jerky up to the light you can clearly tell it’s just some smashed up Slim Jims. Also, it doesn’t have the beautiful color and smoky aroma that the fine folks at Mingua have become so famous for.”

Many financial experts worry that introducing so much jerky into the market at once could lead to inflation, but culinary experts told us that’s just the sodium content.

“It’s a bull market,” financial planner and jerky enthusiast Antoine Dauterive told us. “You know, because of the logo.”

Value City Furniture Hopes To Release Kerosene-Soaked Sofa In Time For The Weekend

By: Harold Leeder

March 24, 2017

State and Elizabeth Street residents watched tearfully as their year old porch furniture was hauled off to the dump yesterday by police. Lexington officials claim they were simply hoping to keep the area as safe as possible for the residents, and anyone else who rode there with Chad. However, by doing so, many students were worried they wouldn’t be able to afford to participate in the yearly mating ritual of couch burning.

“Dude, it’s like the only reason I live down here. You think I like watching dudes throw a football with their shirt off in the street all year long? You put up with all that, for that sweet, sweet chance of setting a couch on fire.  That’s a chance every blue-blooded Kentuckian should have,” said a different guy we interviewed from there who was also named Chad.

While the mood on State Street was bleak this morning, these desperate residents may now have some hope after all, as Value City Furniture has been throwing around the idea of selling kerosene soaked couches to responsible students.

Furniture dealer Chase Loünge explained the store would have to be careful with who they sold the product to, “I don’t think we should sell them to everyone, just people we know we can trust to not ruin it for everyone. So we’re still trying to work all that out.”

Although they were going to be selective in who might get the couches, there would be no shortage on selection, “the kerosene soaked model will come in full sofa, love seat and sectional.”

At press time a price point for the couches still had not been set, but earlier Loünge had promised, “It’ll be cheaper than what they spend on books, for sure.”

Rep. Thomas Massie In Trouble After Replying “Hell No” To Baby Shower Invitation

By: Harold Leeder

March 23, 2017

Northern Kentucky congressman Thomas Massie recently received more likes on a tweet of his vote on the American Health Care Act than we have followers. “I changed my vote from No, to Hell No, and KABLOWIE I’m a superstar.”

Since the overwhelming response to his vote, Rep. Massie has been embracing a whole new attitude, “I call it my swag, and I’m gettin it on, ZIPPACAOW. I’ll toss a H E double hockey stick just about anywhere nowadays.”

While Rep. Massie has embraced his new found fame, others in his life aren’t as thrilled. “Hey I get it, he doesn’t have to come to Braxton’s baby shower, but what I don’t need is him saying Hell No on the RSVP reply card. Also he signed it “Not On My Watch, -BINGOBANGO MASSO” explained Massie’s cousin Bethany Wilson.

“Hey man ain’t no body gonna breaka my stride, I tried a lotta keys out trying to open this door, I ain’t gonna close it now, YA DIGGIN ME PROFESSOR,” yelled the congressman.

Massie had tried several different votes out before finding the one that made him famous, “It was confusing when I’d get ballots with ‘Hell to the nizzo’ written on them,” speaker Paul Ryan said.

While Wilson appeared angry at first, after some time for reflection, she seemed willing to forgive Massie’s inappropriate reply, “Between you and me, I never wanted the guy at the baby shower anyway, I was just hoping he’d send a gift, he’s a congressman and I need a stroller.”

Morgan & Morgan Radio Ad That Began During UK Game Set To End Some Time Today

By: Harold Leeder

March 22, 2017

A radio advertisement for Morgan & Morgan that began during the second half Kentucky’s basketball game against Wichita State on Sunday is finally expected to come to an end at some point today, sources confirmed.

“I just want to know the score of the game,” said local listener Ernest Miller. “Did UK win? Tom Leach was calling the game but then it went to commercial and some lawyer guy has been talking ever since. I’ve been awake for three days.”

Morgan & Morgan, Lexington’s favorite Florida-based personal injury law firm, is known for its lengthy radio commercials in which founder John Morgan goes on several non-law related tangents and waxes poetic about the good old days before finally ending the advertisement with the catchphrase “For The People.” That catch phrase has yet to come in this latest commercial, but listeners are confident it will happen at some point this afternoon.

“It’s got to end at some point, right?” asked Wilma Spears. “He’s already mentioned his childhood memories of almost every place in Lexington I can think of, surely there can’t be many more. I thought it was about to end early Monday morning, but it was just WLAP pausing 10 seconds for station identification.”

Amish Contractors Travel To Lexington To Take Part In Liquor Barn Raising

By: Harold Leeder

March 20, 2017

A phrase you hear quite often among Lexington residents is “This town doesn’t have enough Liquor Barns.” Well thanks to a friendly group of traditionalist Christian builders, that’s about to change, as Lexington recently enlisted the help of Amish contractors to take part in the time-honored ritual of a new Liquor Barn raising.

Located at The Summit At Fritz Farm, construction on the Liquor Barn began promptly at 6:30 AM on Monday, and wrapped up around 6:37 AM.

“Liquor Barn, I hardly knew her barn,” a wise cracking and somewhat disdained member of the Amish community remarked to the others after construction was completed.

While it features all of the things that loyal patrons have come to expect from Liquor Barn (a great liquor selection, fine cheeses, several rows of party hats, and way more cash registers than they could ever possibly need), the new location will also include certain things that make it uniquely Amish. In lieu of the deli that you find at most Liquor Barns, there will instead be a butter churning station. There will also be a place outside to tie up your horse, or hitch your kids if they have one of those leashes.

The grand opening will take place this weekend. Former vice mayor Jim Gray will be on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will be followed by a reading of the script from the movie Kingpin and a round of Bacardi Rumspringa and Cokes.

Applebee’s On Nicholasville Rd Offering Steak Dinner To Any UK/NKU Fans Willing To Eat It

By: Harold Leeder

March 17, 2017

This past week, Northern Kentucky’s Jeff Ruby Steakhouse offered NKU students free steak dinners if the Horizon League Champions upset the second seeded Kentucky Wildcats. In a move lifted from the holster of Annie Get Your Gun, Malone’s in Lexington offered all UK students and faculty a free steak dinner if the cats go on to win their ninth NCAA championship this year. Now, the Applebee’s on Nicholasville Road is throwing their hat into the ring by offering a full-priced steak dinner to any UK or NKU fans willing to eat it.

“Look man, we’re non-partisan here at Applebee’s, the only sides we want to pick between are garlic mashed potatoes and four cheese mac and cheese.” manager Gary said. “We’re just looking for fans of either school who are willing to come in here and pay a very reasonable price for a ‘steak,'” he added while making virtual quotation marks in the air with his hands when he said steak.

Gary continued, “I can’t stress this enough, we’re not offering a free meal like those show offs in Cincinnatti or at Malone’s, but we are offering a 6 oz. USDA Choice Top Sirloin for $12.99, whether your team wins or loses, you just have to be willing to eat, at least most of it, without sending it back. Some people find it more rewarding to pay for their food than to freeload off the backs of college student-athletes. Regardless, come to Applebee’s and no matter how bad your bracket looks you’ll be feeling good in the neighborhood (at least until your food arrives).”
