The ‘Walking Dead Day’ festival in downtown Cynthiana over the weekend was a smash hit. Thousands of people descended on the small Kentucky town, which went all out with zombies, smashed cars and wreckage, giving fans both a realistic Walking Dead experience and a grim preview of Rio after the closing ceremony. Below are some of our favorite quotes we overheard from fans while reporting on scene.

8. “Look at that scary zombie!”
“Hey, that’s not a zombie. That’s my grandma.”

7. “YOU HAD THIS COMING SINTHIANA!”

6. “So cool how they made all theses buildings look abandoned just like the show.”

5. “Hey look! They got deep fried Merle fingers!”

4. “Looks like more people want to meet Victor Puente than Andrea.”

3. “You see this son, this is what happens when you won’t stop pulling your sisters hair.”

2. “I feel like we saw some of these zombies die during the Winchester Civil War reenactment.”

1. “When are they gonna crank up Thriller and get this parade started?!”
