Citing a desire to put his new Sleep Train mattress to good use and get his sleep schedule back on track, third shift R.J. Corman employee Willie Thomas formally requested a transfer to the all the live-long day shift this week.

Thomas began his career at R.J. Corman in the late nineties as a part-time train supervisor, known in the railroad industry as a semi-conductor. He slowly built up steam and eventually landed a gig as training supervisor on the night shift. However, Thomas began to grow tired of the late nights that constantly saw him leaving on a midnight train to Georgia.

“It wasn’t just Georgia,” he told us. “A lot of times my journeys could take me on a midnight train going anywhere. It’s hard to pass the time when you’re on the night shift. I feel like if I’m on the all the live-long day shift I can pass the time away much easier.”

Thomas told us a move to the all the live-long day shift would likely improve his relationship with his wife Dinah. He also hopes a more regular sleep schedule will reduce the hallucinations he’s been having.

“Sometimes I come home from work really early, and I’m super tired, and I’ll have these hallucinations where I hear Dinah in the kitchen,” Thomas said. “But it’s not just Dinah in the kitchen. Someone’s in the kitchen with Dinah. I know they are. And for some reason they’re strumming on an old banjo.”

“Yeah, those are just Willie’s hallucinations,” said Dinah Thomas. “There’s definitely not anyone in the kitchen with me. Especially not our neighbor Randy.”

“I really need this transfer,” Thomas explained. “I mean, I’m hallucinating, my mind is playing tricks on me. Mental wounds aren’t healing, it’s driving me insane. I’m going off the rails on a crazy train.”
