A phrase you hear quite often among Lexington residents is “This town doesn’t have enough Liquor Barns.” Well thanks to a friendly group of traditionalist Christian builders, that’s about to change, as Lexington recently enlisted the help of Amish contractors to take part in the time-honored ritual of a new Liquor Barn raising.

Located at The Summit At Fritz Farm, construction on the Liquor Barn began promptly at 6:30 AM on Monday, and wrapped up around 6:37 AM.

“Liquor Barn, I hardly knew her barn,” a wise cracking and somewhat disdained member of the Amish community remarked to the others after construction was completed.

While it features all of the things that loyal patrons have come to expect from Liquor Barn (a great liquor selection, fine cheeses, several rows of party hats, and way more cash registers than they could ever possibly need), the new location will also include certain things that make it uniquely Amish. In lieu of the deli that you find at most Liquor Barns, there will instead be a butter churning station. There will also be a place outside to tie up your horse, or hitch your kids if they have one of those leashes.

The grand opening will take place this weekend. Former vice mayor Jim Gray will be on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will be followed by a reading of the script from the movie Kingpin and a round of Bacardi Rumspringa and Cokes.
